Skoltech representatives participated in the Joint Conference on Northeast Asia Regional Power Interconnection.

Irkutsk, August 29-30
The high-level two-day conference was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), Energy Systems Institute (ESI), China Electricity Council (CEC) and Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO), with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.
Stakeholders and high-level officials discussed establishment of a framework promoting multilateral energy cooperation and interconnection in North-East Asia.
Alexey Ponomarev, Skoltech vice president for strategy and industrial cooperation made a presentation about Skoltech Center for Energy systems (CES) experience and current activities in the field of power interconnection. Then Andrey Churkin, CES researcher presented analysis of prospect power interconnections in Northeast Asia and data portal concept that could be developed together with UN ESCAP.
Skoltech continues building relations with foreign colleagues from Mongolia, the Republic of Korea, China and Japan as well as enhancing relations with UN ESCAP that is the main negotiation platform for Northeast Asia power interconnection initiatives.
