Skoltech President Alexander Kuleshov and Professor Evgeny Antipov from the Energy Center took part in the RAS presidium meeting. Evgeny gave a keynote presentation on battery development and pointed out that lithium-ion batteries have made a technological revolution. The professor emphasized the competences necessary for cathode material manufacturing and introduced Skoltech’s experience in annually producing up to 10 tons of cathode materials, which meet international standards. The objective for this year is to push production rate to an annual 20-30 tons. The Skoltech president noted that lithium reserves are limited, and the scientific community should also focus on sodium- and potassium-ion batteries.
