Prof. Ibanez and his team have presented the status of the STRIP project: “Development of Electro Motorbikes Assisted with Supercapacitors”. The goal of the project is to add a booster to an electric motorcycle using an extra source of power: the supercapacitors. The main reason for that improvement is for taking advantages of the maximum power of the electro motorcycle even when its battery is not fully charged. The second power source will add extra power and protect the battery from over currents and over temperatures. The project is going to be tested in collaboration with EMAX, a Russian manufacturer of endurance electro motorcycles.
