On March 28 Skoltech Flowbat group (Energy Center) presented the results of their project FlowStore supported by STRIP program.
The project is aimed at development of Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFB) comprised by materials available in Russia. VRFB systems is the key technology for Russian technological sovereignty in the field of industrial large-scale energy storage systems, as Russia has 25% of the world reserves of vanadium, which is the main element for production of these batteries. The team has managed to find the materials and modify them in the way that allows for stable and efficient operation of the VRFB cells reducing their price almost by 10 times! They also claimed that it is not a limit and they will work on further improvement of the technology. The developed product is crucially important for strategic development of Russian Energy industry that in turn will support stable development of all other economic and industrial sectors of our country.
