School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is hosting our PhD students

The Newcastle University, School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is hosting our PhD students as part of collaboration agreement between Skoltech and Newcastle University.

Aliya Khayrullina, Vasily Chirkin and Timur Sayfutdinov are the PhD students of the Skoltech Center for Energy Systems. The students were welcomed by Professor Phil Taylor, the Principal Investigator of the projects under Skoltech-Newcastle University agreement, Director of the Newcastle University Institute for Sustainability and academic lead for the UK’s largest £54million Smart Grid project. The research visit will be supervised by Dr. Padraig Lyons.

Within the following two months, our team will be studying and work within the state-of-the-art Smart Grid laboratory, hopefully enabling joint research and publications in:

      • Microgrids and virtual power plants
      • Decentralised intelligent control of distribution networks
      • Integration of energy storage and demand side response in distribution networks
