SEMINAR ABSTRACT:SuperOx is a private Russian company, active in field of applied superconductivity. Today, SuperOx is one of the 5 producers of 2nd generation high temperature superconducting wire (2G HTS) worldwide. In 1987, a Nobel Prize in physics was awarded for discovery of the HTS phenomenon. After more than 20 years of intense R&D, HTS wires are a maturing product and a new market is emerging. It is expected that the market will reach $1b by 2021. SuperOx production of 2G HTS wires is a multi-stage process that relies on high-tech reel-to-reel vacuum deposition techniques such as sputtering, e-beam evaporation and pulsed laser deposition. Various aspects of this technology will be discussed and the outlook to the future will be presented, including how to use IoT, big data and AI for better management of complex multi-stage production of new materials. There will be time for participants to ask questions and stay afterwards for a discussion.

SPEAKER INTRODUCTION:Sergey Samoilenkov graduated from Chemistry Department of Moscow State University in 1996 and has his PhD (1999) on high temperature superconductors from the same institution. After graduation, he worked for 5 years in TU Braunschweig (Germany) as a researcher dealing with manufacturing of thin film materials for energy and aerospace. He is an expert in field of solid state chemistry, materials science, functional coatings, superconductivity, and electrical engineering. Sergey co-authored more than 10 patents and over 100 scientific papers. He was a member of international advisory boards of several conferences on applied superconductivity. In 2006, he participated in founding of the SuperOx company in Moscow and became its first CTO. Since 2013, Dr. Sergey Samoilenkov is a chief executive officer at SuperOx. |
