SEMINAR ABSTRACT:Today, there is no shortage of information about materials in handbooks, reports and on the internet. If you want to go deeper into the properties of materials though, and understand how these can be exploited and modified, this information is not always accessible or inspiring. Our approach is to interactively and visually promote materials knowledge and understanding in academia and in industrial R&D. In this presentation, we show examples of how to find and use materials-related data as well as how to visualize and present materials knowledge or concepts using the software. This presentation focuses on three types of applications: teaching, research and data management. The aim of the seminar is to showcase the databases and tools for visualization, comparison and materials-related decision-making. There will be time for participants to ask questions and stay afterwards for a brief demonstration or a discussion.

SPEAKER INTRODUCTION:Dr Tatiana Vakhitova is leading business development activities of the Granta Education Team in EMEA region. Tatiana provides workshops and training on CES EduPack with the specific focus on Granta’s Eco and Sustainability Tools and methodologies. She coordinates the EU Sustainable Critical Materials project https://suscritmat.eu/ at Granta, working with several research organisations, universities and industry. Tatiana works in close collaboration with Professor Mike Ashby, the founding director of Granta Design, on educational projects and Sustainable Development teaching resources. She has lectured at University of Cambridge, TU Berlin, Chalmers University of Technology, KU Leuven and others. She was also an invited speaker at several international conferences. Tatiana has her PHD from the Centre for Sustainable Development (Engineering Department) and MPhil from Land Economy Department at the University of Cambridge. Her research interests are in education for sustainable development, education management, resource efficiency, social and environmental impact assessment, circular economy and critical materials. |
