Timofei Zatsepin has co-authored an article “Identification of a long non-coding RNA regulator of liver carcinoma cell survival” that has been recently published in Cell Death & Disease journal. The researchers applied a pooled shRNA-based screen to identify long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) essential for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell survival. They found a lncRNA, termed ASTILCS, that is critical for HCC cell growth and is overexpressed in tumors from HCC patients. Full text of the paper is available here.
