Maria Logacheva gave an interview to Biomolecula

Skoltech professor Maria Logacheva gave an interview to Biomolecula sci-pop portal. In the interview, Maria talked about the biological evolution in general and specific features of evolution in plants. The talked in great details on buckwheat genome that has been recently reassembled once again. One of the main problems in the assembly of buckwheat genome is the abundance of recently acquired and, thus, highly similar mobile elements. Studying of buckwheat genome is especially interesting because of separated position of this plant related to other crops. Moreover, full sequence of buckwheat genome may be very important for agriculture. Full text of the interview is available here.
