Skoltech scientists Maria Andrianova and Georgii Bazykin co-authored the paper “Error-prone bypass of DNA lesions during lagging-strand replication is a common source of germline and cancer mutations” recently published in Nature Genetics. The researchers have revealed that the major role in human mutations is played by the error-prone damage bypass on the lagging strand during replication. Full text of the article is available here.
