Professor Konstantin Severinov gave an interview to Sofiko Shevarnadze in the episode of Youtube show “Prosto o slozhnom s Sofiko Shevarnadze”. In this interview, prof. Severinov talked about modern strategies and methods for genome editing, such as CRISPR-Cas9. He described the fundamental mechanism of CRISPR-Cas systems functioning and explained why two researchers won the Nobel Prize for discovering CRISPR-Cas system and then making it a potent biotechnological tool . Konstantin Severinov also focused on the ethical problems raised by an extremely rapid development on CRISPR-Cas-based methods for editing of genetic material.
