Ekaterina Khrameeva gave a lecture on 3D genome organization at Arkhe

On February, 2nd Skoltech professor Ekaterina Khrameeva gave a lecture “The secret of DNA package. The life controlled by the structure” at cultural center Arkhe (Архэ). The lecture is a part of a joint project “Skoltech in Arkhe”. In the lecture, prof. Khrameeva focused on spatial genome structure and explained how two meters of human DNA are packaged within a tiny cell nucleus. She also gave insight into the mechanisms that make cells of skin, liver, brain and other organs so different while having the same genome. Ekaterina Khrameeva also explained how mistakes in tightly regulated process of gene expression may lead to various diseases: cancer, neurological and psychiatric diseases. She claimed that studying changes in the cell genome spatial structure may shed light on many pathological processes. Official page of the event.
