On October, 9 Mikhail Gelfand gave a lecture entitled “Dangerous Liaisons: a story written in genomes”. The lecture focused on the earliest period of Homo sapiens evolution and its’ contacts with other species of genus Homo – Neanderthals and Denisovans. Some of these numerous interactions are visible in our genomes as incorporations of Neanderthals’ and Denisovans’ genetic material.
Professor Gelfand had a meeting with the head of Bashkortostan, visited the laboratories in The Institute of Biochemistry and Genetics in Ufa. He also visited the Museum of archaeology and ethnography and took part in the round table with students and young scientists.
