Skoltech scientists Darya Tsibulskaya, Alexey Kulikovsky, Tatyana Zyubko, Dmitry Bikmetov, Marina Serebryakova, Svetlana Dubiley and Konstantin Severinov have recently published a paper “Reiterative Synthesis by the Ribosome and Recognition of the N-Terminal Formyl Group by Biosynthetic Machinery Contribute to Evolutionary Conservation of the Length of Antibiotic Microcin C Peptide Precursor” in mBio journal of American Society for Microbiology. In this article, the researchers have unveiled the reasons why the length of Microcin C peptide precursor is highly conserved. Full text of the paper is available here.
