Skoltech researchers Anastasia Stolyarova and Georgii Bazykin co-authored a paper “Bursts of amino acid replacements in protein evolution” that was published in Royal Society Open Science journal on March, 27. Using the phylogenies of the Baikal Lake amphipods and of Catarrhini, the scientists have detected six salient bursts of evolution of individual proteins during a very short period of time.
