Gyrase is a bacterial enzyme DNA essential for a proper genome functioning. Thus, the antibiotics blocking this enzyme are one of the most common antibiotics used in medical practice. Researchers from Skoltech constructed a map of gyrase positioning within Escherichia coli genome using a new method they had developed. Results of the work were published in Nucleic Acid Research. The first author of the paper, Dmitry Sutormin, performed his work under the supervision of prof. Konstantin Severinov in Skoltech when he was an undergraduate student. Now Dmitry is the first-year PhD student in Skoltech.
Congratulations to Dmitry, his supervisor and the co-authors!
