Skoltech Summer School on molecular biology for bachelor students that took place at the end of August is coming back! During the summer session, the School participants collected different microorganisms from various sites of spacious Skoltech campus to select only those producing antibiotics. Further, they purified their genomic DNA. While the participants have been studying bioinformatics at home, the Skoltech researchers have sequenced the DNA purified by students. Now, the students will continue working on the project and perform the bioinformatics part of it. Specifically, they are offered to assemble the genomes from the sequencing data and to look for the gene clusters responsible for synthesis of antibiotics. The extension of the school will take place on November 30 and December 1.
