Brendan graduated from The Pennsylvania State University and entered the Skoltech Biotechnology program in 2016. He performed his thesis research “Study of Ybl12/Ybl13 , a New Toxin-Antitoxin System Within E. coli” under supervision of prof. Severinov. Upon graduation, he continued his studies as a Skoltech PhD student. In 2018, he co-authored an article in Nucleic Acids Research being the first author.
Yulia got her MD degree from Ryazan State Medical University and professionally trained cardiovascular surgeon. She has been practicing physician while entering the Skoltech Biotechnology Master of Science program in 2016. She had been doing her MSc Thesis project under the joint supervision of Professor Yuri Kotelevtsev and Associate Professor Maksym Artomov. She also carried out some part of her research in the Department of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University in St. Louis during Academic mobility. In 2018, Yulia got an award for the Best Research MSc Thesis Project with the thesis “The in vivo and in vitro effect of itaconate derivatives on various pools of cells of the immune system.” Now she is Skoltech Ph.D. student continuing her research.
Artem graduated from Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (Russia), Department of Molecular Biology and Immunology, in 2015. In 2013-2015 he had been working in Molecular Biology Educational Center, Institute of Protein Research, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow Region, Puschino. In 2015 Artem entered Biotechnology program at Skoltech. He investigated phage defense system BREX from E. coli under supervision of prof. Severinov. In 2017 Artem enrolled on PhD program in Skoltech and continues his research in the area of bacterial immunity. Up to date, he co-authored an article in Nucleic Acids Research, made several presentations at numerous international conferences, performed some part of research in York University (UK) during Academic Mobility program and received grants from FASIE (UMNIK) and RFBR.
Elvira got her bachelor’s degree from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and entered our Biotechnology program in 2015. She performed her thesis research under supervision of prof. Khaitovich on the topic of “Systematic analysis of transcriptome and lipidome aging in the brain neocortex of humans”. In 2017, after she got a master’s degree in biotechnology from Skoltech and a master’s degree in biophysics and molecular biology from Phystech, she started working in the laboratory of systems biology of aging at Belozersky Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology of Moscow State University under supervision of Vadim Gladyshev. In a year, she entered a PhD program in Computational and Systems Biology in MIT where she continues to conduct aging research.
Artem graduated from Higher School of Economics with a Bachelor degree in management, then he got his MA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management from Financial University. He had been working for more than 4 years in management consulting, when he decided to change his path and entered Skoltech biotechnology program in 2016. He had been working on his MSc Thesis Project on immunology under the supervision of prof. Chudakov. In 2018, Artem got awarded for the best MSc thesis for his work entitled “Seasonal dynamics of B cell receptor repertoire in peripheral blood of allergic patients susceptible to birch pollen allergy”. Moreover, he co-authored a publication in “Genome Medicine” journal. He entered Skoltech PhD program in 2018.
Kira graduated from Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia in 2016 and entered the Skoltech Biotechnology program the same year. She had been working on mouse telomerase under supervision of prof. Olga Dontsova and her thesis was entitled “mTERP Protein Encoded In Murine Telomerase RNA: A Search For Biological Role”. Upon graduation Kira joined BIOCAD as a Junior research scientist in Laboratory, founded in 2018 in Sirius (Sochi) by BIOCAD. BIOCAD Laboratory works in a close collaboration with “Biohacking” Sirius laboratory, where she had an internship when she was a Skoltech master student.”
Ivan graduated from General Medicine programme, Faculty of Medicine, SPbSU, and entered the Skoltech MSc Biotechnology program in 2016. During entrance trials to Skoltech he won UMNIK grant competition. His Master thesis “Finding motifs in the integrated metabolism and transcription regulation network of E.coli” was done under supervision of prof. Konstantin Severinov and prof. Mikhail Gelfand. Upon graduation, Ivan joined the BostonGene company – one of the Skoltech partners – and now works there as a bioinformatician.
Arsenii joined Skoltech following the signed agreement between Skoltech and Kazan Federal University on collaboration. He works on his thesis under supervision of prof. Gelfand, participates in a STRIP project as a principle investigator. Arsenii also is a founding-member of a Skolkovo Foundation startup company which is the resident of Skolkovo.
