Photonics Seminar Series: Dr. Evgeny A. Shirshin (Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU))

shirshin-eOn the 13th of July 2022, as part of the Photonics Seminar Series, we will have the pleasure to have Dr. Evgeny A. Shirshin discuss “Clinical biophotonics: surgery guidance, non-invasive physiology and molecular diagnostics“. He will present recent advances of the Moscow State University group in translation of biomedical photonics to the clinics. The event will be hosted in person at the new campus and on-line on Microsoft Teams.

When:  On the 13th of July 2022 at 17:00 MSK time
Where: New campus room E-B2-3006 / Microsoft Teams

About the speaker:
Evgeny A. Shirshin graduated and received his PhD degree from the Faculty of Physics, Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Moscow, Russia in 2008 and 2011, respectively. He is a coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Research and Educational School of MSU “Photonic and Quantum technologies. Digital medicine”. He led and participated in various national and international research projects on medical physics and biomedical optics, and published more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals. His areas of expertise include clinical biophotonics, in vivo diagnostics, molecular imaging, and optical spectroscopy.

Abstract:
Recent advances of the Moscow State University group in translation of biomedical photonics to the clinics will be presented. Three main application areas will be discussed: surgery guidance using optical spectroscopy, assessment of the physiological parameters with non-invasive methods (parameters of the skin, hydration, total hemoglobin etc) and diagnostics of patients blood plasma and cells.
