Plasmon planar optics: fundamentals and applications

ABSTRACT: The key advantage of plasmonics is in pushing our control of light down to the nanoscale. Here we demonstrate the development of the basic elements of plasmon planar optics: plasmon optics media, focusing and reflecting plasmon elements, plasmonic interferometer, plasmonic autocorrelator, planar plasmonic quantum generator and plasmonic sensors. We will show that the use of modern approaches to the development of plasmon optics elements based on the use of single-crystal metal surfaces of ultra-high quality leads to substantial breakthrough in the field. The fundamental and technical problems of plasmon planar optics are discussed. Their numerous applications are considered.
 
BIO: Pavel Melentiev is a leading scientific researcher at Institute of Spectroscopy Russian Academy of Sciences. His scientific activity involves experimental research in atom optics, cold atoms and recently in quantum and nonlinear nanoplasmonics; scientific records includes more than 50 papers published in peer re-viewed journals, works as an invited researcher at UEC (Japan) and ANU (Australia), plenary talks at international conferences.
