About the speaker:

Dr. Pavlos Lagoudakis is Vice-President for Photonics and Full Professor at Skoltech, where he heads the Hybrid Photonics Laboratories (www.polaritonics.com). After obtaining a master’s degree at the University of Athens, he received his PhD degree in Physics from the University of Southampton, UK in 2003 and conducted his postdoctoral research on optoelectronic properties of organic semiconductors at the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, Germany. In 2006, he returned to Southampton as Lecturer at the department of Physics and Astronomy, where he combined his expertise in inorganic and organic semiconductors and set up a new experimental activity on Hybrid Photonics. In 2008, he was appointed to a personal chair at the University of Southampton. He joined Skoltech as a Full Professor in 2015. Prof. Lagoudakis is a pioneer in the field of polaritonics with the first demonstration of polariton lasing at room temperature. He is author and co-author of 185 articles in peer-reviewed journals (h-index of 43), provided more than 250 invited talks and seminars, and is co-inventor of 8 patents. During his career, Pavlos supervised over 30 PhD students and close to 70 MSc students. Pavlos’ research interests include non-linear optics, polaritonics, optical computing and topological physics.
