The Center for Energy Systems offers a brand new course in power electronics, which nowadays is considered to be one of the most promising technologies. It is extensively used in modern electric vehicles, industrial plants, and renewable energy systems. Professional advantages continue to grow for technical engineers who understand the fundamental principles and technical requirements of present-day power conversion systems.

This course has been developed and is now delivered by Dr. Federico Martin Ibanez, a senior research scientist with the Center for Energy Systems. It brings the “hands-on” approach to learning that makes Skoltech unique. During laboratory classes, students work very closely with their instructor and benefit from his research expertise and individual feedback in a small group setting.

Skoltech ASME Turbo Expo Conference 2017 participation

The prestigious event in the field of gas turbine took place in Charlotte, North Carolina at the end of June. That was an ASME Turbo Expo 2017 exhibition and conference. PhD student of the Skoltech Energy Systems CREI Kirill Abrosimov has presented results of his work whereas his paper was accepted for the conference proceedings. The work is dedicated to dynamic modeling of micro gas turbine based on the Inverted Brayton Cycle.  Scale of the conference and the exhibition amazed: there were 25 parallel sessions from 8 till 17 during the whole  5 days of the event.  Various perspective contacts with people working on the same topic were established.

CES PhD and master students participation in “Startup-Village”

PhD and master students of Skoltech Energy Systems CREI Kirill Abrosimov, Mikhail Pugach, Arseniy Grinchenko and Ilgiz Murzakhanov (MSc) took part in the so-called artifact session of the Startup Village 2017 with the story about the challenges of the distributed generation concept. They covered the whole concept through the prism of their own research and had a very intriguing object as an artifact to symbolically demonstrate the concept.
