PhD Positions in Wireless Sensor Networks and Internet of Things

 

We are currently inviting applications for a 4-year PhD studentship in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Internet of Things (IoT), starting in November 2017.

Funding is available for both Russian and international students: RUR 75,000 (EUR 1,200 equiv.) per month.

PhD students will contribute to the following research topic(s) in the scope of WSN and IoT:

  • sensing and actuation,
  • signal processing,
  • intelligent systems,
  • power management: low power design, energy harvesting,
  • data processing,
  • wearable electronics,
  • wireless communication,
  • wireless power transfer,
  • application and deployment.

The exact research topic will depend on the candidate background and expertise.

 

Eligibility

  • Successful candidates are expected to have a Masters (or Specialist or an equivalent) degree in EE, CS, ICT.
  • The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in English (TOEFL or IELTS). Applicants who did not get a chance to take any of these official tests will be required to take the institutional TOEFL test during “Selection Weekend” at Skoltech.
  • The candidates should be motivated to complete a PhD within 4 years.

Prior to submitting an application, students are advised to submit their CV and a motivation letter (up to 700 words) to Dr. Andrey Somov (a.somov@skoltech.ru).

Please submit a PhD application including:

  • a motivation letter,
  • a CV, with the publications list (if any),
  • 2 letters of recommendation,
  • research statement (optional),
  • reprints of selected publications (optional), and
  • proof of proficiency in English, i.e. TOEFL or IELTS (students may submit an application without this information, but all will be asked to provide it at a later date)

through Skoltech Admissions for Doctoral Programs, selecting “PhD” as the degree level, identifying Dr. Andrey Somov as the prospective supervisor, and choosing “CDISE” from the list of centers.

All documents should be submitted in English (the exceptions are diplomas in Russian and publications in Russian).
