The University of Lausanne (UNIL, French: Université de Lausanne) in Lausanne, Switzerland was founded in 1537 as a school of theology, before being made a university in 1890. Today about 13,500 students and 2,200 researchers study and work at the university. Approximately 1,500 international students attend the university (120 nationalities), which has a wide curriculum including exchange programs with world-renowned universities.

École nationale supérieure du pétrole et des moteurs

The IFP School (French: École nationale supérieure du pétrole et des moteurs) is a graduate engineering school located in Rueil-Malmaison, France. Founded in 1954, IFP School is part of the IFP Energies Nouvelles, French Institute of Petroleum (IFP), a French public-sector research and training center. The school graduates approximately 600 students per year in 20 graduate programs (10 in English), employing 40 regular professors and 350 instructors from industry.

In 2015, its position increased by more than 100 places to equal 303rd in the world, which was the biggest increase of any Australian university.

Russian Academy of Sciences, Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth

The Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPE RAS) is one of the most prominent centers of global and national geophysics. It performs a wide range of fundamental and applied research of physics of the Earth.

Trofimuk Institute of Petroleum Geology and Geophysics SB RAS was founded by decree No 272 of Russian Academy of Sciences Presidium at 22 of November 2005, when Institute of Petroleum Geology SB RAS, Institute of Geophysics SB RAS and Design and Technological Institute of Instruments for Geophysics and Ecology SB RAS were united.

National Mineral Resources University

The Saint Petersburg Mining University (Russian: Санкт-Петербургский горный университет), is Russia’s oldest technical university, and one of the oldest technical colleges in Europe. It was founded on October 21, 1773, by Empress Catherine the Great, who realised an idea proposed by Peter the Great and Mikhail Lomonosov for training engineers for the mining and metals industries. Having a strong engineering profession was seen by many Russian rulers as a vital means of maintaining Russia’s status as a great power. All three had had a military education and seen the achievements of the engineers of revolutionary and imperial France, who had reconstructed the great highways, unified the waterways and erected buildings throughout Europe in a more lasting tribute to the French than all of Napoleon’s victories.
