MSc Program

Want to learn from the best international experts, work on breakthrough scientific projects and get a hands-on experience in biotech business?

Apply to Skoltech’s Master Program in Biotechnology!

The two-year Master program is conducted in English, in a diverse international environment under the guidance of well-known scientists. Education includes courses and seminars on gene engineering, molecular biology, pharmacology, bioinformatics, neurosciences and other subjects that students can select themselves. They also get extensive hands-on training in a well-equipped molecular biology laboratory and a brand new bioinformatics laboratory.

In addition to lectures on innovation management and entrepreneurship, Skoltech organizes industry immersion programs with its industrial partners. There are possibilities of exchange opportunities with other Russian and foreign universities.

To get a diploma, students complete individual research projects under the supervision of Skoltech faculty. Graduates receive Russian State-recognized Masters degree diplomas in Biotechnology. The tuition is fully covered by Skoltech.  Enrolment into the program entitles students (Russian citizens) to a deferment from military service.

M.Sc. in Biotechnology includes a vast variety of disciplines, lab practices and exchange programs, which students can choose themselves.

The program allows students to not only get an extensive education in general biology, genetics and bioinformatics, but also choose from many elective courses and practices:

  • Gene engineering
  • Molecular Biology
  • Functional Genomics
  • Bioinformatics
  • Preclinical Pharmacology
  • Neuroscience
  • Cancer Biology
  • Animal models in drug discovery
  • Math modeling in Biology
  • Stem Cells
  • Systems and Computational Biology
  • RNA Biology

and others.

Skoltech’s complete course catalogue  for AY 2016/2017 is published here.

Exchange programs with other Russian and foreign universities are also available.

Students dive into biotech business and work closely with innovative companies.

Understanding how biomedical business works helps not only to choose a better career path, but also to be a more efficient researcher. This is why Skoltech embeds several industry immersion programs into the M.Sc. curriculum, which are organized in partnership with both  large established companies and early stage start-ups.

In addition to that, students take courses on innovation management and entrepreneurship.

Students are taught by well-known scientists with international experience, including the following faculty members of CDIBB:
